Supporting Local Police in Combating ASB and Criminal Activities

n today's fast-paced world, ensuring the safety and security of our communities has become more crucial than ever. One of the key pillars in maintaining law and order is our local police force. They work tirelessly day and night to protect us from various criminal activities, including anti-social behaviour (ASB).

Anti-social behaviour encompasses a wide range of activities that can disrupt the peace and harmony of our neighbourhoods. From vandalism and graffiti to noise disturbances and public intoxication, ASB can have a detrimental impact on the quality of life for individuals and communities alike.

Recognising the significance of our local police force, we are fortunate to have a group of individuals who truly embody the values of thoughtfulness, community focus, and unwavering commitment. Their dedication to serving and protecting our community is evident in their every action. One of the most admirable qualities of our local police is their thoughtfulness. They approach their work with a deep understanding of the impact their actions can have on individuals and the community as a whole. Whether it's responding to a call, conducting an investigation, or interacting with community members, they always take the time to consider the best course of action, ensuring that their decisions are fair, just, and in the best interest Communities flourish when they are able to foster a sense of safety and security. Working in close collaboration with our dedicated officers, I am committed to fostering a sense of unity among various agencies and residents to combat anti-social behaviour (ASB) and other criminal activities in our community.

I connected with the TVP (Thames Valley Police) soon after my election and I was able to successfully arranged for a knife amnesty bin to be placed in my ward. This initiative aims to promote safety and reduce the presence of dangerous weapons in our community. Additionally, I took the initiative to rally together local residents who were eager to contribute towards the betterment of our neighbourhood. Together, we organised a cleanup effort to address a specific area that had been plagued by anti-social behaviour (ASB). By joining forces, we were able to restore the space and make it more welcoming for everyone. It is truly inspiring to witness the power of collaboration and community engagement in tackling important issues. I am grateful for the support of the TVP and the enthusiastic participation of my fellow residents.

In just a span of two months, our knife amnesty bin has made a remarkable impact, gathering an impressive collection of over 300 knives. This incredible response from the community is a testament to the urgent need for initiatives like ours, aimed at promoting safety and reducing the presence of dangerous weapons in our society.  Thanks to the collective efforts of our community, we have successfully removed 300 knives from our streets.

I also reached out to a wonderful local charity Keeping Kids Off the Street, and facilitated setting up of a free boxing class aimed at providing a safe and engaging activity for our community's children, ultimately keeping them away from the streets. They are helping so many children and families everyday and I am grateful for their support and presence.
