During the pandemic, children and young people have emerged as unsung heroes. Many have dealt with it as well as they could under the circumstances, juggling numerous day-to-day pressures, but we all know it has had a catastrophic effect.
The importance of our children's and young people's emotional well-being warrants a creative outlet such as this.
On August 7th 2021, Shaz kicked off a week-long art exhibit called "Life in Color," whose sole purpose was to showcase paintings by children and teenagers expressing their reactions to the pandemic and the things and people who brought them joy and strength.
The gallery space was generously provided by Hansford & Sons Gallery in Stony Stratford, and all proceeds from the sale of the artworks went to YiS Young People's Mental Health, a charity in Milton Keynes that provides counselling, one-on-one wellbeing coaching, education, and outreach to the city's youth. Information is available at www.mkyis.org.uk, the official YiS website.
