The Tattenhoe ward includes Kingsmead, Tattenhoe, Oxley Park, Westcroft, and Tattenhoe Park. Shaz and her other councillors in Tattenhoe, Manish and James, along with the Buckingham Fire Service, initiated the "Anti-social parking campaign" to crack down on poor parking in these areas.
Concerns were raised that emergency vehicles would have difficulty navigating certain streets in the Tattenhoe ward due to irresponsible parking in the surrounding estates. As a result, it was determined that parking in certain locations required more awareness and caution.
Poor design has made it challenging for properties in Tattenhoe, Kingsmead, and Oxley Park to provide sufficient parking for residents and visitors.
Locals have been frustrated by parking issues in the estates, as it makes it more difficult for emergency workers to respond to calls.
The campaign began on November 27 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sinatra Drive in Oxley Park and proceeded methodically through Kingsmead and Tattenhoe. Together with Shaz, local council members James Lancaster and Manish Verma, the fire department distributed flyers, knocked on doors, and spoke with locals about the significance of considerate parking.
Shazna Muzammil stated, "We are trying to promote safer and better parking for emergency vehicles so that they may join the streets as quickly and as safely as possible. We do not want you to park in a way that prevents a fire engine, ambulance, or other emergency vehicle from reaching other individuals in need of assistance, endangering their lives. This must be a group endeavour, and we cannot succeed without the residents' cooperation, understanding, and support."
